How does the program work?
Your child works through the Activity Book at home using their EQJOY World cards. Each week they explore a different building block of Emotional Intelligence: Week 1 — Notice, Name & Choose; Week 2 — Understand & Distinguish; Week 3 — Reset & Choose; Week 4 — Express & Empathize; Week 5 — Apply & Continue. The registering caregiver receives a Caregiver Guide with an overview of the program and advice on how to support the participating child, as well as a short weekly email from EQJOY with guidance for that week.
How much time does the program take each week?
Plan for approximately 3–5 hours each week, spread across the week rather than completed in one sitting. This includes activities such as playing with the EQJOY World cards, self-reflection and journalling, conversations with caregivers and trying out EQ-building practices.
Are there any live sessions?
No. The program is fully self-guided, so your family can complete the activities at times that work for you.
What will we receive?
Each participating child receives:
- an EQJOY World card pack
- their own Participant Activity Book
Each household also receives one Caregiver Guide.
Can more than one child in our family take part?
Yes. You can apply for more than one child aged 11–17. Each participating child counts as one of the 30 available program places and receives their own card pack and Activity Book.
Why are there pre- and post-program surveys?
The surveys help EQJOY understand what children and families experience during the program and how we can continue to improve it. The caregiver completes a short survey about each participating child before and after the program. Participating children do not complete evaluation surveys.
